Case study · The Bhukkad Café

Eight years of The Bhukkad Café, moved to delEat in a day.

On 23 September 2026 we moved The Bhukkad Café’s menu, its recipes and its sales history back to January 2018 from its previous UAE cloud POS into delEat, in one migration window. Its outlets have not switched over yet: this page is about the move, and what preparing it taught us. The Bhukkad Café is our own group’s restaurant brand.

The restaurant and the move

What moved, and where things stand.

Every figure here comes from the move itself. Sales are left out on purpose.

The restaurant
The Bhukkad Café, an Indian restaurant brand in the UAE. One outlet is the brand’s own; the others are franchised, each under its own company.
The relationship
The same group. The Bhukkad Café is The Hungry Inc.’s own restaurant brand. This page is about our own restaurants, and says so.
Status
Data moved; outlets not switched yet. No Bhukkad outlet sells on delEat yet. We will update this page when the first one does.
Moved from
Its previous UAE cloud POS, in one migration window on 23 September 2026: the menu that morning, the rest of the data that night.
History kept
Sales history back to January 2018, so the first report after the switch starts full.
Menu
228 items created and 342 updated in the morning import.
Recipes
186 recipes costed from the head chef’s recipe manual, so food cost follows the kitchen’s own specifications.
Photos and tags
155 dish photos and 48 vegetarian tags added in October.
Per outlet
41 shisha items set as not sold at the outlet that does not serve shisha, while the menu stays whole for outlets that do.

The migration

One day, two windows.

Menu in the morning228 items created, 342 updated, and availability set outlet by outlet.
History that nightSales back to January 2018, so the first report already has a past.
Recipes from the chef186 recipes costed from the head chef’s own manual.
An entity per outletEach outlet under its own company and TRN, before it can sell.

What we learned

Five things preparing the switch taught us.

Each one is fixed in the product for every restaurant that moves after The Bhukkad Café.

Entities
Every outlet is its own company. The first data setup put every outlet under one outlet’s TRN. delEat now keeps a legal entity and TRN per outlet, and will not sell at an outlet until its own TRN is accepted.
Availability
Availability is stated, not assumed. The imported menu marked every item available everywhere, which would have put shisha on menus that do not sell it. The move now sets availability item by item, for every channel.
Business day
Late service crosses midnight. Testing showed “today” following the server’s clock. It now follows the outlet’s business day and time zone, kitchen safety logs included. Fixed 16 and 17 October.
Food cost
Food cost comes from the kitchen. Recipe costs now come from the head chef’s manual, and a renamed dish keeps its cost history. Fixed 5 October.
Printing
Kitchen tickets need network printers. Testing showed tickets not reaching printers on the network. Print Agent 1.3.0 added them on 18 October.
