Payments and settlement.
What delEat does with your money, which is nothing. This page says so in enough detail to rely on.
Guests pay the way they like: cards and wallets on your card machine, and on the guest ordering page through your own payment gateway.
1. What delEat is
delEat is restaurant software: a point of sale and the modules around it, sold as a subscription per outlet. It is operated by The Hungry Inc., Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
delEat is not a payment service provider, a payment gateway, a payment facilitator, a wallet, a remittance service, a custodian of funds, or a financial institution of any kind, and it is not licensed as one.
2. Your money stays yours
Every sale you take is a transaction between you and your customer. When a customer pays by card, wallet or online, the payment is processed by a licensed payment provider that you hold the relationship with, under your merchant agreement. That provider settles the proceeds into your bank account on the terms you agreed with them.
delEat does not receive, hold, pool, route, split, delay or pay out any of those funds. At no point does a dirham of your sales pass through a delEat account.
3. What delEat does with payments
delEat records the transaction, matches it to the order, prints the receipt, and reports on it. Sending the amount to your card terminal and reading back the result, so the cashier does not type it twice, is coming soon. When it arrives, that integration is a connection between your till and your provider; delEat is not a party to the payment.
The Settlement reconciliation module reads the payout reports your delivery platforms issue and lines them up against your own record. It is a reading of documents you already have. It moves nothing.
4. Fees
delEat charges a flat subscription per outlet. It does not charge a percentage of your sales, a per-transaction fee, or a processing fee, and it adds nothing to your payment provider’s rate. What your provider charges is set by your agreement with them, and the figures on our pricing page that describe those rates are illustrations of a market band, not quotes.
5. Refunds, chargebacks and disputes
Refunds to your customers are issued by you, through your payment provider, from your own funds. Chargebacks and disputes are handled between you, your provider and the card scheme. delEat keeps the record that helps you answer them and has no role in deciding them.
6. Tax
You are responsible for the VAT and any other tax on your sales. delEat calculates VAT on receipts and reports at the rate you configure and produces the reports that support a return, but the return is yours to file and the liability is yours.
7. Delivery platforms
Orders that arrive from delivery platforms are settled by those platforms to you under your agreements with them. delEat shows those orders, their commission and their settlement as reported by the platform, and reconciles them against your record. delEat is not a party to those agreements.
8. Referrals
Where delEat introduces you to a payment provider, you are onboarded directly by that provider, complete their compliance checks, and hold your own account with them. delEat may receive a referral fee from the provider. That fee does not change your rate and is never deducted from your settlement.
9. If this changes
If delEat ever offers a payment service of its own, it will do so under the appropriate licence, with a separate agreement you have to accept, and this page will say so plainly. Until then, the rule is the one above: your money never touches us.
