Module 40 · Shift and up
Safe drops into deposits, deposits onto the statement, petty cash in the book.
Cash leaves the drawer as a safe drop, goes to the bank in a deposit built from those drops, and is matched to the statement. Petty cash runs from its own tin, with every spend an expense.
How it works
Drop it, bank it, match it.
What is in it
Safe and bank, feature by feature.
Deposits are matched to the bank credit whatever the bank calls it, CDM or CASH DEP, and a petty cash spend with a tax invoice reaches the VAT return.

What is in the safe
Loose drops plus deposits bagged for the bank, worked out from the drops themselves, never typed in.
Matched to the bank
Mark it banked with the bank's slip number, and Reconciliation expects it and matches it to the credit on the statement.
Prepare a deposit
Tick the safe drops going to the bank. The amount is their sum, and each drop can go in one deposit only.
Deposit slip
A numbered slip prints on the receipt printer with each drop, the total and lines to sign, ready for the bag.
Deposit slipOld drops flagged
The dashboard shows what is in an outlet's safe and flags a drop that has sat there more than three days.
Petty cash tin
One tin per outlet with a float and a custodian, topped up from the drawer or the bank, with every entry kept.
Spends are expenses
A spend goes into the expense book, paid from petty cash, so the P&L and the VAT return read it like any other.
Questions it answers
The four you will ask it first.
- How much cash is in the Al Seef safe?
- Which deposits are banked but not yet matched?
- What was spent from petty cash this week?
- Has any safe drop sat for more than three days?
Before you believe it
The three questions everyone asks.
Can one safe drop end up in two deposits?
No. Each drop goes in one deposit only, and a second deposit naming it is refused. A cancelled deposit puts its drops back as loose.
Does a petty cash spend show in the P&L?
Yes. It is an ordinary expense paid from petty cash, so the P&L, the VAT return and the Expenses list all read it.
What if the bank describes the deposit differently?
The wording is set once in Reconciliation, so a statement line reading CDM or CASH DEP still matches the deposit.
