UAE VAT for restaurants
VAT for UAE restaurants, kept per outlet and per TRN.
Each outlet trades as its own legal entity with its own TRN. The document it prints follows that registration, credit notes run on a series of their own, and a watcher keeps an eye on the registration threshold. delEat keeps the records for you and your tax agent; it does not file your return.

What delEat does with VAT
The records your tax agent asks for, kept as you trade.
The thresholds are the UAE’s own: AED 375,000 of taxable supplies to register, AED 187,500 to register voluntarily.
- TRN
- A legal entity and a 15-digit TRN per outlet, or one TRN shared across a tax group where there is one.
- The document
- A registered outlet prints a tax invoice; one that is not prints an invoice. A template cannot override it.
- Credit notes
- On a number series of their own, per outlet, naming the invoice each one reverses.
- Numbering
- Invoice numbers run without gaps.
- Prices
- VAT inside the menu price, backed out rather than added on top, with money held in whole fils.
- The issuer
- The supplier’s name and TRN are frozen onto each order, so a later change never rewrites an old invoice.
- Thresholds
- Taxable sales over twelve months against AED 375,000 and AED 187,500, checked at each month end, with a warning at 90 percent and a date to apply by.
- Reporting
- Taxable sales, VAT, credit notes and the net figure per TRN, by month or quarter, out to CSV.
- Expenses
- Recoverable VAT recorded on each bill, on the Shift plan and up.
- E-invoicing
- Not yet. Coming soon delEat does not issue electronic invoices today.
How it works
Register, trade, watch the line.
Questions
The questions people ask first.
Does delEat file our VAT return?
No. It keeps the invoices, credit notes and the VAT per TRN straight, and gives you the figures to hand to your tax agent.
Does it switch VAT on when we cross the threshold?
No. It warns you as you approach it and gives a date to apply by. Changing an entity’s VAT position takes a signed declaration.
Does delEat issue e-invoices?
Not yet. It prints tax invoices and credit notes; electronic invoicing is coming soon.
Can several outlets share one TRN?
Yes, where they are in a tax group: each outlet is its own entity, sharing the group’s TRN.
Is VAT added on top of the menu price?
No. VAT is inside the price and backed out of it, so the price on the menu is the price the guest pays.
